Direct Message Delivery Tracking

Every direct message you send from MeshDash is tracked through its complete delivery lifecycle. As soon as the radio transmits the packet, the message bubble updates from SENDING to SENT. When a delivery acknowledgement (ACK) packet arrives from the destination node, the bubble updates to DELIVERED.

If no ACK arrives within the timeout window, the message is marked FAILED. This gives you reliable per-message delivery visibility that the official Meshtastic apps often lack.

MESSAGE LIFECYCLE
SENDING Message queued in outbound buffer
SENT Packet transmitted by radio hardware
DELIVERED ACK received from destination node
FAILED No ACK within timeout window

Channel Broadcast & Encryption

MeshDash supports all Meshtastic channels simultaneously. Each channel appears in the sidebar with its unread message count. When you select a channel, the encryption type is detected from the channel configuration and displayed below the input bar.

CHANNEL ENCRYPTION TYPES
AES-256
A custom PSK is configured. Messages are encrypted.
OPEN
No PSK — channel is unencrypted. Use for public broadcast.
DEFAULT
The default LongFast PSK. Not truly private.

230-Character Mesh Limit

Meshtastic messages are limited to 230 UTF-8 characters due to LoRa packet size constraints. MeshDash enforces this limit in the UI with a live counter, and also enforces the 0-7 channel index range. Both limits are clearly communicated before you attempt to send.
